care in making sure our bettas have the best care and shipping environment

We do now warranty our Fed Ex shipments. We
have started doing this because the courier services deny all claims on live fish, period.
So if we don't warranty them, you would be left with nothing :( Please click here for more information.
Our Warranty.
I do not like to cull my spawns, but I find
it necessary in some cases. There are breeders out there who find it absolutely
horrible to cull any spawn, but we find it more cruel to force a fish to live
with deformities that make it hard for it to survive, and then pass them off as
'gifts' to others. So we do not have free 'culls' to offer, we do not believe in
passing around deformed or undesirable bettas as gifts. We are trying to pass
around the quality genes that we breed, throwing out severely crooked spines,
swim bladder and other such deformities would just throw the whole process one
step backwards. You will find, though, that there are usually surprises in
every shipment.
We do not have a 'Bargain Bin' but I do price my
Bettas according to their quality. We are planning on opening up a 'Pet Page' for
bettas that are suitable for pets, not for breeding. We have have several
requests from people wanting a healthy betta for a pet. We will now be offering
healthy bettas of different varieties in a pet section for those of you wanting
them. Genetics and lineage of these bettas will not be provided as they are sold

Yes, but the shipping costs are slightly
increased do to the need for heat packs. We will only ship if overnight lows
are AT or ABOVE 35°F.
I have heard of bettas surviving up to a month
during shipment (unbelievable, but true). It all depends on the condition the betta is in prior to
shipment and how the courier handles them during shipment. A betta in
healthy condition will survive at least 1 ½ to 2 weeks in normal shipping
conditions. As long as they have enough water to cover their bodies, the ammonia
level does not rise to a toxic level and they have plenty of oxygen in the bag.
The other most important item in the shipment is temperature. This is where the
breeder has no control. The shipping boxes are (supposed to be) insulated and
(supposed to be) well labeled. The worst two things that could happen to a betta
shipment is 1) to be placed in the unpressurized cargo bay of an airplane thus
resulting in sub-zero temperatures and loss of pressure. This will kill every
betta in the package; 2) being left in a delivery truck for any extended period
of time in either very cold or very hot weather. This is where the labeling of the
box is very important, even then sometimes they are ignored. If the shipping box is not labeled for
perishable contents,
'Keep away from extreme temperatures', then at some
point an accident can and will happen. If the courier does not know there are
fish inside, he might deliver your package to your home and leave it in the sun.

Yes and no!! We have set rates for shipments to Canada. We
do not ship overseas at this time.
